ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

This is a Full Time position for an Advanced Practice Clinician to provide outpatient and inpatient care to individuals with multiple sclerosis and related disorders. APC will work closely with Bridget Bagert, MD, Director of the Ochsner MS Center and will be an integral part of our multi-disciplinary team (MD, APC, RN, social worker, and various subspecialists). Duties will involve direct patient care, patient education, and performing outpatient procedures. APC will be expected to provide immunotherapy to our patients as well as manage various symptoms associated with MS. Appropriate training period (4-6 months) will be offered to individuals with limited experience in MS care.


QUALIFICATIONS: (Advanced Practice Nurses)

  • Masters Degree in Nursing
  • Family Nurse Practitioner or Adult Nurse Practitioner ANCC or AANPCP Certified
  • Current Louisiana State Licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse
  • BCLS/ACLS Current Certification as required
  • 3 – 5 years related experience preferred


QUALIFICATIONS: (Physician Assistants)

  • Bachelors Degree in Physician Assistant Medicine or Health Sciences or graduate of an Approved Physician Assistant Training Program (as appropriate for PAs) NCCPA Certified
  • Current Louisiana State Licensure as a Physician Assistant
  • BCLS/ACLS Current Certification as required
  • 3 – 5 years related experience preferred


OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be fully licensed and credentialed as outlined by the Medical Staff Office of Ochsner Health System.
  • Physician Assistants must maintain NCCPA certification. Must be eligible for Louisiana Prescriptive Authority as outlined by the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners.

Overview:

We are currently seeking one Nurse Key Opinion Leader Liaison (NKOLL) for each of the four U.S. territories.


Summary:
The Nurse Key Opinion Leader Liaison is responsible for developing sales and product advocacy among Nurse, Nurse Practitioner, and Physician Assistant key opinion leaders (KOLs) within an assigned geographic region. Reporting to the Director, Key Opinion Leader Liaisons, he/she works closely with Sales, Marketing, Training, Reimbursement and other staff to build advocacy for Questcor’s products and help manage regional speakers. This field-based position requires an individual that has developed strong relationships with Key Opinion Leaders in the MS community for the assigned regions, and has good access to these individuals. Position will be aligned to support sales regions within the Neurology/MS sales force and will require frequent travel within the assigned geography and periodic travel to the corporate office.


Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with marketing, KOLL director and sales management, identify and target appropriate Nurse, Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant KOLs within the assigned geography
    • A KOL would be identified as nurse practitioner, physician’s assistant, or nurse that is viewed as a thought leader (regional or national influence among their peers) in the field of MS
  • Profile, develop and manage targeted KOL relations within assigned geography, including serving as liaison between KOL and other functional areas within Questcor
  • Help educate KOLs with understanding disease (MS relapses), mechanisms of drug action, and the optimal positioning of Acthar for the treatment of MS relapses with approved materials and other on-label information.
  • Build product advocacy among KOLs using on-label and promotionally approved materials and programs
  • Build prescriber and sales growth among targeted KOLs
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of brand strategy and key business drivers
  • Working with Marketing and within compliance guidelines, the NKOLL will engage with KOLs to assist in development of on-label, promotional slide decks as well as other educational and promotional materials. NKOLL may also work with other functional areas to develop other materials for use with the sales force (sales training materials, reimbursement materials, etc.)
  • Evaluate and train approved speakers on relevant, on-label promotional slide decks
  • Communicate and collaborate regularly with key internal functions including: Field Sales, HCP & Patient Marketing, Reimbursement, Training, and Compliance
  • Interact and help manage KOL relations at Regional and National Congresses
  • Interact and help manage relations with national groups such as IOMSN, NMSS.
  • Work independently and effectively with limited day-to-day supervision
  • Participate in special projects and perform other duties, as required.
  • Work with MSLs or clinical scientists to appropriately triage inquiries about clinical or scientific development
  • Assist Marketing with the targeting and engagement of KOLs for Advisory Board Meetings, as well as the engagement of patient advocates.


Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge and success with KOLs within the assigned geography
  • Minimum of 5 years combined experience in pharmaceutical/biotech field sales and/or marketing in MS
  • Knowledge of and experience with thought-leader development practices
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills, with an open attitude and willingness to be coached
  • Superior presentation skills, written and verbal communication skills
  • Bachelor’s or higher degree required
  • Travel required – greater than 50%

The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine Department of Neurology is seeking a clinical nurse for the Multiple Sclerosis (MS) center who will coordinate the clinical activities for and provide nursing case management services to patients with MS. This position’s primary duty will be to provide clinical support to the MS physicians and counsel, support, educate, and coordinate resources needed by patients with MS. The individual will provide direct patient care and work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary health care team, which requires an individual to possess excellent organizational, time management and interpersonal skills.


The clinic nurse’s main patient related responsibilities will include: Ensure patient and physician calls are returned in a timely manner, and all patient interactions are documented appropriately in our internal electronic medical records system (EPIC). Triage patients, responding as needed, or forwarding a detailed message to the appropriate physician. Answer questions from patients regarding physician instructions, medications, prescription refills, MRI results, and/or other aspects of clinical care. Retrieve diagnostic results, coordinate physician sign-off of results, and call patients with results according to clinic protocol. Assist providers with preparing disability, FMLA, and MVA documents. Assist providers with drafting letters of appeal to insurance companies for medically necessary treatments. Provide patient education in regards to their MS diagnosis, FDA approved treatments, and symptom management upon request. Provide support and counseling by helping patients to navigate various self-help organizations in the community.


The clinic nurse’s main professional development responsibilities will include: Assume responsibility for own professional development and remain current in clinical practice by attending relevant continuing education. Maintain current knowledge of all JHH, JHU, and clinic policies and procedures related to clinical operations and assume responsibility for appropriate application and compliance. Support quality assurance/quality control initiatives. Complete clinical nursing educational activities to grow/strengthen specialization in MS nursing. Successfully manage fast-paced clinical environment with frequent interruption in planned work. Regularly interface with patients and a multidisciplinary care team. Effectively utilize electronic medical record and electronic medication prescription programs. Adapt well to advancing, evolving work environment.


Individual must be a registered nurse licensed in the State of Maryland or state where practicing. Bachelor's degree in nursing or related discipline preferred. Two (2) years of clinical nursing experience with the evaluation and treatment of neurological diseases is desired; MS experience is highly desired. Current CPR certification required. The Mellen Center for MS Treatment and Research at the Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health in Las Vegas, NV is looking for a dedicated and compassionate physician assistant or nurse practitioner who will play an integral role in the care of patients in the only Multiple Sclerosis Comprehensive Care Center in Nevada (will be NMSS certified soon). As part of the team we have two MS fellowship trained neurologists, a dedicated MS certified nurse and a medical assistant. Our center also has a dedicated MS counselor, research coordinator, and education and outreach coordinator. As part of the Cleveland Clinic, our center is very patient oriented with programs that are designed so that our healthcare providers collaborate across specialties and develop a treatment plan that takes into account the needs of patients and their families. In addition, we have physical therapists on site with special training and dedication to caring for our MS patients. There are opportunities to participate in clinical research and patient education (through patient seminars and programs).

Neurology experience is encouraged but not required. Spanish speaking is preferred, but not required.
