Overview:

The purpose of the Clinical Nurse Educator is to provide point-of-service support with key healthcare providers and clinics within a specified geography in order to enhance disease knowledge, support the patient therapy selection process, coordinate and provide training, enhance compliance, and improve adherence.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Serve as single-point of contact for Teva patient services for target physician offices within a defined geographic territory:

  • Conduct total office call and/or in-service sessions to educate physicians, nurses and office staff on Teva patient services and how to access them
  • Train and educate office staff on proper use, handling and administration of Teva products
  • Support therapy choice through therapeutic, product and reimbursement education
  • Maintain communication and integrate activities, when appropriate, with Sales, Account Management and other teams within Patient Support Services

Assist patients/caregivers in understanding and implementing treatment protocols prescribed by the target physician:

  • Reinforce treatment expectations established by the physician and review potential product benefits and side effects
  • Provide training on proper use of medication including self-injection techniques and use of injection device

Present information on disease state and symptoms, therapy, and healthy lifestyle choices to support compliance and adherence at patient programs and small group sessions.

Coordinates field nursing services within defined geography. Provides team leadership, in-service and field training


QUALIFICATIONS:

Education required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in nursing

Specific type of experience required:

  • 5 years nursing experience
  • Current license in good standing in assigned state(s)

Specific type of experience preferred:

  • Recent experience with assigned disease state
  • Patient educator experience
  • Experience calling on health care providers within assigned territory
  • Therapeutic certification in related disease state

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

This is a Full Time position for an Advanced Practice Clinician to provide outpatient and inpatient care to individuals with multiple sclerosis and related disorders. APC will work closely with Bridget Bagert, MD, Director of the Ochsner MS Center and will be an integral part of our multi-disciplinary team (MD, APC, RN, social worker, and various subspecialists). Duties will involve direct patient care, patient education, and performing outpatient procedures. APC will be expected to provide immunotherapy to our patients as well as manage various symptoms associated with MS. Appropriate training period (4-6 months) will be offered to individuals with limited experience in MS care.


QUALIFICATIONS: (Advanced Practice Nurses)

  • Masters Degree in Nursing
  • Family Nurse Practitioner or Adult Nurse Practitioner ANCC or AANPCP Certified
  • Current Louisiana State Licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse
  • BCLS/ACLS Current Certification as required
  • 3 – 5 years related experience preferred


QUALIFICATIONS: (Physician Assistants)

  • Bachelors Degree in Physician Assistant Medicine or Health Sciences or graduate of an Approved Physician Assistant Training Program (as appropriate for PAs) NCCPA Certified
  • Current Louisiana State Licensure as a Physician Assistant
  • BCLS/ACLS Current Certification as required
  • 3 – 5 years related experience preferred


OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be fully licensed and credentialed as outlined by the Medical Staff Office of Ochsner Health System.
  • Physician Assistants must maintain NCCPA certification. Must be eligible for Louisiana Prescriptive Authority as outlined by the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners.
  • Advanced Practice Nurses must maintain ANCC or AANPCP certification. Must be eligible for Louisiana Prescriptive Authority as outlined by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing.

This is a flexible outside educational position where our Team will provide in home injection training for patients in a specified territory on an as-needed basis and payment will be via an honorarium. We anticipate this will require approximately two half days of work on a weekly basis, but this will vary based on territory size.
